Vint Cerf is one of the fathers of the Internet and Google’s Chief Internet Evangelist. One of his goals is to expand Internet access around the world, so that the 4 billion people (give or take) who aren’t already online can join the 3 billion who are. He’s also the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, which celebrates the engineers responsible for innovations that benefit humanity.
In the video below, you can see what he has to say about the promise of engineering and technology, how the Internet allows us to experience creativity and inventiveness, and his basement stash of bad science fiction novels and good wine.
Why not take up his challenge to do your part in helping those other 4 billion people to get Internet access. It could be of enormous benefit to us all.
